Tim is passionate about helping organisations to grow and achieve their goals at any stage of development. He has experience living and working on 4 continents in multiple industries covering engineering, manufacturing, telecommunications and software. The roles he has undertaken cover a broad range of hard technical skills and soft people skills including engineer, strategy consultant, programme director, business coach and senior leadership positions.
Currently Tim is based near New York City and is the Head of Sales Operations at Workforce Software – a private equity backed global enterprise software business embarking on a significant growth trajectory. Previously CEO of Datum Alloys – a global supplier of precision stencil materials for the electronics industry – which he transformed from an owner centric business to ISO recognized supplier with profitable locations on 3 continents resulting in a successful investor sale.
Prior to New York, Tim and his family lived in Singapore and Malaysia where he opened the SE Asia office of Shirlaws Business Coaching and was a partner until relocating to the USA. On arrival in Singapore he opened the SE Asia office for Strategic Analytics and lead consulting projects for European and US businesses engaged in acquisition and growth strategies in SE Asia. In Malaysia Tim worked at Maxis Communications (the largest mobile operator in the country) as programme director for early stage internet-to-home product development and spent time in Sri Lanka and Japan to develop the business case for acquisition opportunities.
Tim lived and worked in London for 8 years – as commercial owner for TV products at what is now Virgin Media (previously Telewest Cable) and was a strategy consultant at Mars & Co for 3 years as well as shorter contract positions at Arthur D Little and Intiqua.
His career began in South Africa where after graduating he spent 5 years building, commissioning and running a new stainless steel manufacturing facility (the only one of its kind in Africa) east of Pretoria.
Tim has an M.Phil in Management Studies from Cambridge University and a B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cape Town. Throughout his career he has played an active role in community activities and strongly believes in the need to give back in recognition of all those who have provided us with opportunities. These activities have included starting an annual festival called Zimfest which has continued to grow and raise significant sums for Zimbabwean causes, providing pro-bono advisory services to the Singapore based Impact Investment Exchange (IIX) and working with organizations that support education and job creation in African communities.
Tim is privileged to have been asked to join the board of the Zambesia Conservation Alliance and is looking forward to helping it to meet an ever growing need.
